Nylon (Polyamide)
Nylon is one of the most versatile engineering plastics, and is used in nearly every industry. Nylon is a great wear material with very good strength and toughness. It has a low coefficient of friction and very good abrasion resistance. Nylon is self-lubricating, making it an ideal replacement for traditional metals in bearing applications.
Nylon is available in several formulations (Type 6, Type 6/6, Type 12, Type 6/12, and Type 4/6), and can be produced by utilizing Extrusion, Injection Molding, and Casting methods. Nylon can also be compounded with various fillers to improve its strength, toughness, and wear resistance.
